Frequent Flyers offers Aerial Dance Camps that teach kids skills in aerial fabric, trapeze, aerial sling, dance and more. (Think Cirque du Soleil.) As an adult, I’ve actually taken a few classes and found them fun + challenging! So if your child has ever dreamed of flying – the amazing freedom, the fun, the excitement – join the professional teachers of aerial arts, dance and theater for this exciting camp!
We asked Frequent Flyers’ Laura Burgamy to share with us some of the most common questions they get from parents and her answers.
1. Are aerial arts safe?
Yes! Safety is the top priority of our experienced professional faculty. Basic skills are taught until students are ready to learn more, and mats are used 100% of the time. Our faculty all possess knowledge of CPR, first aid, and anatomy and promote healthy physical practices, so our students will be able to fly for a long time.
2. What activities will my child experience at camp?
Aerial apparatus classes in aerial fabric, sling, and trapeze; active warm-ups including cardio and stretching; active group games; collaborative creation of group choreography; scarf juggling; hula hooping; plate spinning; and an outdoor lunch break on sunny days.
3. Can parents see what campers are learning?
Yes! At the end of the week, campers will put on a 20-30 minute show for friends and family showcasing what they’ve learned on our aerial playground. This show is constructed by the campers themselves! We also save 10-15 minutes after the show for photos and final skills campers might want to share.
4. What kind of skills will my child learn in camp?
Camp apparatus classes are a mix of work outs and fun. Aerial skills do require an amount of strength, so we include strength building exercises like core exercises in the apparatus and assisted pull ups. Play on the apparatus might include spinning, hanging, climbing, swinging, and working with a partner.
5. Are there opportunities for aerial classes during the school year?
